As some of you reading this may know, we were recently nominated for a Lincolnshire Free Press Business Award, a nomination for which we were very proud. The award itself was for 'Best use of technology' and from a list of 20 or so businesses we were shortlisted to the final three. As the nature of our business demands the use of new technology, which we like to keep up to date with, we hoped we were in with a really good chance.

The (inaugural) ceremony was held at the South Holland Centre, the very well appointed and quite swanky arts centre in Spalding. This was a Black Tie event with the fellas in Dinner Jackets and suits and the ladies in the poshest ball gowns and cocktail dresses. We were treated to a delicious five course meal before the awards were presented and over dinner new business connections were made around the table.

For the awards themselves, we were in a category with two other businesses. The first, Infotel, are an online hotel booking organisation whose use of proprietary software allows them tofind the cheapest hotel deals much like an insurance broker. The second, winegifts4u, are an online supplier of novelty wine and spirits who use their ordering system to personalise the labels on bottles which are being delivered as gifts.


Each business was introduced with a video montage, while the 'voice over' described the nature of our business and what we have done to deserve the award. We all sat through our introductions watching from behind our hands (its always hard watching yourself on the big screen) and waited with baited breath, hearts pounding, while the result was announced.
