Hello! My name is Caroline, I’m fifteen and in year 10 at The Deepings School. I am currently on a two week work experience at statusdesign.
I love art and design and last year as part of my Business Studies class I worked on an advertising project which I really enjoyed. I wanted to find out more about the industry and so I decided to do my work experience at a design agency, luckily statusdesign let me join them for two weeks!
Although I was nervous on my first day I was soon getting stuck into the tasks I was set, I was launched straight in at the deep end by having to make changes to an advert using QuarkXpress.
Later in the week Martin (with some help from Stanley) showed me how to use Illustrator while Matt set me the task of creating a logo for a record company. I had to come up with a name representative of the the type of music it would sell, find a font to match and then complete the logo, I really enjoyed it.
I have learnt something new everyday, and everyone has taken part in showing me how to use the software and although they were worried they were giving me too much information at once, they did a very good job.
I managed to get out of the tea making duties until the Friday of the first week (quite an achievement) and, despite worrying, when I finally made the tea I don’t think it was that disgusting as no one spat it out!
I’m glad that I chose to come to statusdesign for my work experience as I am really enjoying my time here and think I am learning more and having a much better time than a lot of other people in my year.
I would like to say thank you to everyone at status for letting me complete my work experience with them and making me feel so welcome.
